The Australian Bicycle Council is the national body that manages and coordinates implementation of Australia Cycling - The National Strategy 1999-2004.

 

The Australian Freight Councils Network (AFCN) membership comprises Executive Officers from each of the State Air and Sea Freight Export Councils. These Councils bring together all the players in the export chain from producers/manufacturers to shipping lines/airlines to work together to improve the efficiency and quality of the transport and logistics chain.

 

The role of the AGCC is to consider and develop mechanisms to coordinate all land, sea and air aspects of GNSS; promote the safe and effective utilisation and development of GNSS in Australia; and coordinate national security issues, the application of augmentation systems, and the national use of GNSS in other relevant applications.

 

The AROU is a non-statutory unit within the Commonwealth Department of Transport and Regional Services established under an Inter-Government Agreement on Rail Operational Uniformity.

 

The Australian Transport Council (ATC) is a Ministerial forum for Commonwealth, State and Territory consultations and provides advice to governments on the coordination and integration of all transport and road policy issues at a national level.

 

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) undertakes best-practice 'no blame' transport safety investigations. The bureau is an operationally independent multi- modal body as it has to independently investigate, analyse and report on transport safety. It maintains a clear organisational separation from transport regulators and other parties that may be investigated, and operates within a defined legal framework within the Commonwealth Department of Transport and Regional Services (DOTARS).

 

The Bureau of Transport and Regional Economics (BTRE) operates within the Department of Transport and Regional Services to provide information and analysis for the Government and the community, improving the understanding of the economic factors influencing the transport sector and regional Australia.

 

This project is a combined initiative of Federal, State, Territory and Local Governments, development industry and relevant professional bodies. Its purpose is to reach agreement across Australia on ways to improve the processes for development approval and cut red tape without sacrificing the quality of the decision making.
